When you think of the Christmas season you think of family coming together and good food. But not for Lucy. Lucy hated Christmas. It was the busy season for her at work. She worked at the Gap, one of the busiest stores in Canada. She also had to work overtime and never had time for her family, especially her children Grace and Liz. One day, when Lucy went to work, her boss Mike had a staff meeting. He told the staff that he had decided not to hire staff for the Christmas season. Well Lucy told him that his decision was a stupid one and that the Christmas season was the busiest one of the year. She looked at him and said how do you expect us to work and meet our customer demands? Mike looked at her and said that he was sorry and that his decision was final. After the meeting, Lucy started to work the floor and told herself that she hated Christmas. When she got home her mother called her and told her that she was the one to host Christmas this year at her house. Lucy was not happy about it. She got off the phone and told her husband Luis about the conversation with her mother and how she wanted them to host Christmas lunch at their house. Luis looked at her hesitating to tell her that he told his mother that they were going to host the Christmas Eve dinner at their house. Finally he told her. Lucy wanted to kill him on the spot. It was one week before Christmas and Lucy had not started her Christmas shopping and needed to start. She asked Luis to look after the girls so she could go to the mall. Luis told her no because he was having his friends over to watch the hockey game, and that she needed to take them with her. They got into a fight about it. She told him how you do think I am going to do Christmas shopping and buying their presents with them there? Out of the blue, Luis called for all the girls and said that they were going shopping with their mother and to be good girls. Liz and Grace were so happy that they were going to the mall with their mother and told Lucy what things they wanted to do and things their wanted to see. Lucy told them that they were not going with her and that they were staying home with their father. Grace turned to her and said; yes we are because daddy says so. Lucy was not happy. She turned red with tears falling from her face and told them that Christmas was cancelled and there were not going to be any presents this year and all of them could go to hell. Lucy went to her bedroom and locked the door. Luis waited 5 minutes and went upstairs to talk to her and asked her to open the door. When she opened the door she handed him the phone and told him to call everyone and tell them that Christmas was cancelled because of his selfishness and told him that you know how I get like this every year at Christmas time and you always find a way to make it worse for me. So she made him call everyone and tell them that Christmas was cancelled because of his selfishness. He took the phone from her and called everyone. Luis called his mother to tell her the news. She was not happy about it. Luis mother told him you know that Lucy hates Christmas. That’s why the Christmas season always drives Lucy crazy.
